Pennsylvania tractor trailer accident causes serious injuries

Traveling the interstates through Pennsylvania can be one of the quickest ways to get from Point A to Point B. Unfortunately, it also increases the risk of being involved in a tractor-trailer accident, especially along the more heavily trafficked portions of the highways. One recent wreck highlighted how quickly life can change.

The accident occurred along Interstate 81. A big rig was traveling in the northbound lanes in the vicinity of the York Road exit. According to the accident report, the driver purportedly experienced a health crisis, which caused the tractor-trailer to veer off course across the dividing median.

The semi then wound up in the southbound lanes where it crashed into two passenger cars. The driver of the truck and two occupants of one of the cars all suffered serious injuries. The driver of the third vehicle reportedly was unharmed in the crash. The report did not contain any additional information concerning the nature of the injuries or what health emergency may have precipitated this terrible crash.

The Pennsylvania police investigation into this tractor-trailer accident is likely still ongoing. The accident report will be a public record once it has been finalized. If the driver of the truck had a known or suspected health condition that led to this wreck or if other evidence of negligence is found, then the seriously injured car occupants may choose to pursue personal injury claims in civil court against the trucker and the trucker’s employer. If negligence is documented by appropriate evidence, claims for documented monetary damages will be considered by the court.
