Man in buggy injured in rear-end car accident in Pennsylvania

The driver of a horse and buggy was reportedly rear-ended the morning of Feb. 28, according to local sources. Pennsylvania authorities say the 20-year-old driver of the horse and buggy was seriously injured in the car accident. However, no charges have been filed in association with the crash 

According to the accident report, a 58-year-old man reportedly ran into the rear end of the horse and buggy. Police say they do not believe speed was a factor in the crash, although sun glare may have contributed to the accident. It is unclear at this juncture whether the individual involved in the crash will be charged. 

The driver of the horse and buggy was reportedly seriously hurt in the crash. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment. It is unknown whether the horse was also injured in the accident. Police are still in the process of conducting the investigation into this accident 

Until Pennsylvania police complete their investigation into this car accident, it will be difficult to determine whether charges will be filed against the 58-year-old driver who precipitated the crash. Even if police do not choose to file criminal charges, the injured man may choose to file a personal injury claim against him. Criminal charges or convictions are not required for a civil suit to be filed or even to be successful, but evidence of negligence or recklessness would be helpful in proving the case in a court of law, even a civil court that would oversee such a case.
