Car accident in Pennsylvania kills 1

Tragedy struck Mechanicsberg on the morning of Feb. 9, according to local authorities. A car accident involving a car and a school bus sent several students to a Pennsylvania hospital and claimed the life of another individual. So far, no charges appear to have been filed against either driver. 

According to the official report, the crash was reported around 12:45 p.m., though the specifics of the accident were not listed, including which driver is believed to have been responsible. One person, an occupant of the car, was confirmed dead at the scene by an arriving coroner. One student on the bus was taken to a local hospital with injuries described as non life-threatening. 

Other students were reportedly on the bus at the time of the crash. Several people who were riding in the car were also rushed to the hospital, though the number of individuals taken and their conditions were unknown at the time of this report. Police have yet to file charges against anyone involved, but their investigation is continuing. 

Depending on the outcome of the Pennsylvania police investigation, one or more of the drivers may be held responsible for this car accident. If this is the case, criminal charges may be filed. In addition, the family of the deceased individual and/or the injured parties may also choose to file wrongful death or personal injury suits against the driver or drivers believed responsible. A criminal charge is unnecessary for a civil suit to be filed, though evidence of negligence is still required.
