Pennsylvania trooper involved in drunk driving accident, 1 dead

The law strictly forbids driving while intoxicated. Nobody would know that better than law enforcement officials who are paid to uphold the law. However, this did not stop one Pennsylvania state trooper from breaking this law. The trooper was arrested for causing a drunk driving accident that ended in one fatality last year.

The incident happened as the trooper was driving his pickup truck while he was off-duty in Feb. 2012. His truck ended up driving into the wrong lane with traffic going in the opposite direction. This resulted in a collision with a sport utility vehicle. One 21-year-old man died as a result of the fatal crash.

The trooper who had since stopped working as a law enforcement official has recently been convicted of criminal charges resulting from the deadly incident. He pleaded no contest to drunk driving and vehicular homicide while drunk driving. The man had been a state trooper for approximately nine years before the career-ending incident occurred. The former trooper has reportedly stopped drinking and has expressed remorse for his actions.

Unfortunately, remorse cannot bring back the life of the young man killed in the drunk driving accident in Pennsylvania. Not only does the victim’s family have to deal with the emotional turmoil associated with such a tragic loss, they probably have already had to pay for funeral costs and related expenses. Although money can never fully heal the pain caused, monetary reimbursement from a wrongful death lawsuit may be able to help a family financially as it struggles to move forward.
