Pennsylvania drunk driving accident injures 2, charges filed

An accident in Pennsylvania has resulted in injury to three people and criminal charges against one of the drivers. A 51-year-old man and a 9-year-old passenger suffered injuries after the man’s vehicle was struck by another vehicle operated by someone thought to have been under the influence. Police have termed it a drunk driving accident, and the man suspected of drinking and driving is facing several felony charges.

The accident occurred when the accused was in a turn lane and reportedly pulled his Silverado out in front of an Altima. The Silverado struck the Altima’s front end. The Altima driver and child suffered injuries, although none are considered life-threatening. They were both transported by ambulance to a local hospital where they were being treated. The accused suffered injuries but was not hospitalized.

The Silverado driver has been charged with assault, DUI and several other felony and misdemeanor charges related to the apparent drunk driving accident. He has been arrested and was being held at a local prison. A Public Defender has stepped in to represent his legal interests.

A drunk driving accident can often end in tragic circumstances, but fortunately it appears both injured parties are going to recover. The accused is facing a host of criminal charges, but he could also be held liable if the victims choose to seek restitution in the Pennsylvania civil courts. No word on any legal action has been reported, though these types of claims are typical when someone is injured due to the negligence of another party. Medical bills and related costs are often the result of a car accident involving serious injury. A successful personal injury claim could result in a monetary award to help these victims take care of those costs and other damages as provided under our state laws.
