1 dead, 2 injured following car accident in Pennsylvania

A tragic accident has left one man dead and two others in serious condition in Clifford Township on Oct. 25. Pennsylvania police report the car accident happened on State Route 106 in the early evening. So far, no charges have been filed in connection with this case, but the investigation is ongoing.

Police reports indicate a 30-year-old local man was driving on the state route when he inexplicably crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. He struck a vehicle head on that had been traveling the other direction. The driver was thrown from his car and the driver and passenger of the other vehicle, a 36-year-old and a 24-year-old man, were trapped inside their crushed car.

The first driver was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident by arriving medical personnel. Rescue crews eventually managed to free the other two men from the wreck and transferred them immediately to a local hospital. Their injuries are being described as severe, and there is no word as to their current condition at the time of this writing. The crash is still under investigation by authorities at this time.

When the driver most likely to be deemed responsible for a car accident is killed in the same crash, it becomes somewhat more difficult for police to make an accurate assessment of the cause of the accident. However, under Pennsylvania law, injured parties still have legal recourse available to them. The two injured men will have the opportunity to file personal injury lawsuits against the estate of the other driver in a civil court setting.
