1 dead in Pennsylvania car accident

One woman is dead following an accident in Chester County on July 30, according to local sources. The car accident, which took place on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, killed a passenger in a minivan that crashed into a wall. So far, no charges have been filed according to police.

The accident record states the 48-year-old woman driving the vehicle somehow struck a median in Wallace Township. The woman appeared to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle swerved several times, striking the median a second time and launching the minivan into the air. It overturned several times before coming to rest.

A 42-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman were both ejected from the vehicle on impact. The 42-year-old died at the scene, and the other two individuals were rushed to a local hospital with injuries described as moderate in nature. Police have not yet commented on whether they believe high speed, alcohol or reckless driving were possible causes of the accident, but the investigation is still underway as of this writing. No charges have been filed against the driver at this time.

Depending on the outcome of the Pennsylvania police investigation, it is possible criminal charges will be filed against the driver. In any event, the family of the deceased passenger and the injured parties will be entitled under state law to file wrongful death and personal injury suits against the driver. Such suits would be handled in a civil capacity and will require proof of negligence on the part of the driver of the minivan.
