3 people killed in Pennsylvania car accident
Three people have tragically lost their lives following a serious wreck on Interstate 81, according to local sources. All three victims of the car accident have been identified by Pennsylvania law enforcement as out-of-state drivers. The driver most likely responsible for the crash was killed in the accident, so no charges are likely to be filed.
The accident report states that a vehicle driven by one member of an out-of-state couple was traveling northbound on Interstate 81 when, for reasons unknown, the driver drove into the southbound lanes. A southbound vehicle being driven by a 52-year-old man attempted to get out of the way of the wrong-way vehicle but was unsuccessful. The two cars collided on the driver’s sides.
The two individuals in the northbound vehicle, identified as a 48-year-old woman and a 49-year-old man, were both killed in the crash. A passenger in the other vehicle, a 49-year-old woman, was also killed. The driver of the second vehicle managed to survive the crash and was taken to a local hospital, where he is currently listed as being in stable condition.
Pennsylvania police have yet to determine what made the northbound vehicle enter the southbound lanes, and, since the driver and passenger of that vehicle were killed, it is possible they will never be certain of what caused the car accident. However, driving in the wrong lane is against the law regardless of the reason, so the surviving driver will have some leverage if he chooses to file a personal injury suit on his own behalf, or if the family of the deceased passenger wishes to file a wrongful death suit. These suits would be filed against the estate of the deceased driver and any other individuals with ownership interest in the vehicle.
