4 teens dead following serious car accident in Pennsylvania

Local law enforcement believes that speed may have been a factor in a horrifying crash that killed four teenagers the night of Dec. 19. Pennsylvania police and emergency services responded to the tragic car accident that apparently involved two vehicles. Two further individuals were also injured in the crash, which is still under investigation at this time.

Preliminary reports suggest that one vehicle carrying four teenagers was traveling westbound when it collided head-on with another vehicle carrying another two teenagers headed in the opposite direction. Both vehicles caught fire and overturned, but the first vehicle was also thrown into a tree and torn in half. All four passengers of that vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver and passenger of the other vehicle were able to escape and were rushed to a local hospital for treatment. However, there is no word as to the extent or severity of their injuries at this time. Police have reason to believe that speed was a factor in the crash, though they have been unclear as to which vehicle they believe may have been speeding. No further details were available at the time of this report.

Depending on which vehicle Pennsylvania police believe was speeding at the time of the car accident, this case will unfold one of several ways. If the deceased driver is deemed at least partially culpable for the accident, his estate will be open to the possibility of wrongful death and personal injury suits filed against it. If the driver culpable was the surviving one, she and the ancillary owners of her car could face criminal charges as well as the aforementioned civil suits.
