Driver admits intoxicated driving led to fatal car accident

The majority of motorists who travel the streets and highways of Pennsylvania will arrive at their destinations without any mishaps befalling them. Unfortunately, that is not true for everyone, and a serious car accident can change lives forever. Recently, one man entered a guilty plea for causing a fatal crash.

According to police reports, the fatal collision occurred earlier this year as a driver attempted to depart the site of another wreck. As he drove away, he then collided head-on with another vehicle. That wreck severely injured the female driver. Though she survived the initial collision, she later perished from her injuries.

Pennsylvania officials reported that the 24-year-old man was attempting to illegally pass another vehicle on a double yellow line when the crash occurred. He was charged with several serious counts, including homicide by vehicle while under the influence and a 3rd degree murder charge. He was also operating a car without a valid license as well as driving drunk.

The driver entered a plea of guilty to the charges. The date for his sentencing was not publicly released during his recent court appearance. The victim’s family may have obtained some measure of closure with this driver’s decision to admit guilt in his role of causing the fatal car accident. However, they are still left to cope with the loss of their loved one and the monetary damages that they may have also sustained through medical bills, loss of income and final expenses. Pennsylvania families in these tragic circumstances may elect to pursue a wrongful death claim against the parties responsible for their losses in an attempt to seek compensation for documented financial damages.
