Law enforcement officer causes car accident; 2 injured

A recent car accident left two local Red Lion residents injured after a law enforcement officer ran a red light. A Pennsylvania state trooper’s vehicle collided with a small SUV that was also at the intersection at the time. The impact of the car accident caused the SUV to overturn, but emergency crews were able to extricate the two occupants who suffered moderate injuries.

After the SUV flipped over, it came into contact with a third vehicle, but that driver was not hurt. The Pennsylvania state trooper was treated for minor injuries at the scene of the accident, which is still under investigation by law enforcement. It has not been determined if the man will be issued a citation for actions that caused the car accident. It is not known why the officer ran the red light, but it is important to remember that even law enforcement officers can demonstrate reckless behavior behind the wheel, which places both themselves and other motorists at risk for physical harm.

The two elderly victims may have suffered emotional duress from the accident, as well as expensive medical bills for treatment. When any car accident victim suffers financially, physically or emotionally, he or she may seek a legal opinion regarding the possibility of financial compensation. This injured couple may be eligible for financial recovery after their accident. Assistance from a legal professional can provide the victims with a better chance of success with a civil claim against the liable parties.
