Wet Pennsylvania roads, speed lead to car accident

Pennsylvania drivers who don’t slow down during inclement weather risk being involved in an accident. Police are saying that wet roads and speed led to a car accident that sent three people to the hospital. Heavy rain had fallen on and off throughout the afternoon of the accident, making the roads more hazardous.

Police say the accident occurred when a 63-year-old woman was driving too fast for the wet road conditions and slid into oncoming traffic. When she crossed the center line of the roadway, she slammed head on into another car. The woman suffered major injuries, and a passenger in her vehicle suffered moderate injuries. The driver of the other vehicle also suffered moderate injuries.

The current condition of the three people injured as a result of this accident is unknown. As may be expected in a head on collision, the front end of both vehicles was heavily damaged. Police say the seriously injured woman was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Those that are injured in a car accident retain the right to file a personal injury claim against the party or parties deemed to have been negligent in a way that caused or contributed to the accident. Expenses such as medical bills, car repairs, and lost wages may be recoverable in addition to other damages allowed under Pennsylvania state law should the party filing the claim prevail. Granted, a successful claim won’t heal injuries or miraculously repair a car, but it may help to alleviate the financial stress often caused by being involved in a car accident.
