4 vehicles and a semi involved in Pennsylvania truck accident

Operating a large tractor-trailer takes diligence and an awareness of what is around the large vehicle. Understanding the limitations of a big rig and the damage that it can cause is paramount to becoming a licensed owner or operator. When drivers fail to heed caution, a truck accident can occur. Four Pennsylvania motorists were unfortunate enough to be near the errant driver of a Freightliner and became involved in a crash.

Around 6:27 p.m. on Feb. 22, a tractor-trailer driver began to reverse in the center lane of Interstate 78. Traffic had apparently come to a standstill, though the 48-year-old driver did not otherwise explain his actions. He was cited for improperly backing up his vehicle on the roadway. Once the driver began to travel in reverse, his rig collided with a small car operated by a 45-year-old woman. Her car was pinned beneath the truck and began to rotate, which caused her car to strike another tractor-trailer driven by a 48-year-old male.

The pinned vehicle then struck another car driven by a 44-year-old woman. This vehicle then struck the fourth and final vehicle, which was driven by a 69-year-old female. The driver of the pinned car along with the driver of the third struck vehicle were transported to a local hospital and treated for possible neck and head injuries.

When someone is the victim of a Pennsylvania truck accident caused by the negligence of another party, seeking legal recourse for medical expenses and related damages may be appropriate. Consulting with an attorney to see how to proceed with filing a personal injury case in a civil court is advised. Compensation awarded from a successful claim could be used to help cover financial losses resulting from the accident.
