Motorcycle accidents take heavy toll on victims and families
In spite of the dangers, thousands of Pennsylvania residents cannot resist the call of the open road, especially during the warmer months of the year. However, in spite of the caution riders may exercise, motorcycle accidents continue to take a heavy toll on both victims and their families. One recent wreck claimed the life of yet another victim.
The wreck occurred late on a Friday evening. According to police, the crash took place at a local intersection. While the exact details are yet unknown, officials stated that the wreck was caused when a driver attempted to complete a left turn from the intersection. A 32-year-old man on a motorcycle could not avoid a collision and hit the side of the automobile.
The force of the impact caused the driver to be thrown from his bike. He landed on the surface of the roadway. Though the victim was transported for emergency treatment, his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced deceased after arrival. The 18-year-old motorist reportedly did not suffer any serious injuries in the collision.
Pennsylvania authorities have not completed their investigation at this time, and it is unknown whether the motorist will face any charges as a result of this fatal wreck. However, the victim’s family will now be forced to spend the rest of their lives without their loved one. In these tragic circumstances, families may consider whether they wish to pursue a wrongful death suit against the parties they deem responsible for their losses. While not all drivers are held criminally responsible for purportedly causing these types of motorcycle accidents, the evidence required to file a civil suit is not as stringent, and a favorable ruling may allow the families to recover a portion of the monetary losses they have likely sustained.
