2 dead in Pennsylvania car accident in Bethel Township
Two people are dead following a serious crash in Fulton County on June 21, according to local law enforcement. The car accident claimed the lives of a 28-year-old and a 72-year-old female driver. Pennsylvania police are still investigating the cause of the accident, which appears to have been the result of one driver losing control of her vehicle.
According to reports, the accident happened around 11 a.m. on Route 522 in Bethel Township. The younger driver, who was from out of state, appeared to lose control of her vehicle and cross into the other lane where she struck the other woman’s car head-on. The force of the impact critically injured the young woman, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. She was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel at the site of the accident.
The older woman was trapped in her vehicle by the force of the impact and had to be transported to a local hospital by emergency services. Her injuries were equally severe, and she was pronounced dead later that day. Police have not commented on whether alcohol or unsafe speeds were factors in this crash, but the investigation is ongoing as of this report.
As the Pennsylvania police investigation continues, it may be possible for the surviving family of the older driver to seek financial restitution in the form of a wrongful death lawsuit. Based on the evidence currently available, it appears the estate of the younger woman may be held accountable for the car accident. If this is the case, the elder driver’s family would be able to pursue the claim in a civil court setting and could also name as an additional defendant any separate owner of the vehicle that the younger woman was operating at the time of the tragedy.
