Drunk driving accident leaves woman injured

A 23-year-old man is facing charges following a car crash that injured a local woman, sources have said. Pennsylvania police apprehended the man after what is believed to have been a drunk driving accident left a woman seriously injured. He has been charged with numerous felonies associated with the incident.

The particulars of the accident, which took place back in March, have not been widely disseminated to the press as of this report. However, it has been confirmed that two vehicles were involved in the crash. Additionally, the man’s blood alcohol level at the time of the accident was over twice the legal limit in Pennsylvania.

The extent of the unnamed woman’s injuries have also not been elaborated upon at this time, but they were described as severe. Her current condition is unknown, but it is hoped she is recovering from the accident. The man now faces DUI, felony aggravated assault by vehicle and reckless endangerment charges, as well as several others. He was arraigned at the end of June and was released after paying $20,000 in bail. Upcoming court dates have not yet been announced.

Any car accident that results in injury or death is tragic, but a drunk driving accident is perhaps even more so because of how preventable it is. If Pennsylvania authorities prove the man was drunk behind the wheel, he will almost assuredly face jail time for his role in the accident. Additionally, the injured woman will be entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit against him, and evidence garnered from the criminal case may be useful in that regard.
