Car accident kills Pennsylvania man, injures 2 others

An investigation is ongoing into the death of one man and the serious injury of two others after a vehicle rolled in the early morning of the last Sunday in May. The car accident occurred on a Pennsylvania county road around 2 a.m. No formal cause has yet been determined for the collision.

Reports indicate the driver, a 24-year-old local man, was driving his vehicle and two passengers along a stretch of road. Police believe the man was speeding at the time of the accident. The man lost control of his vehicle and left the road, entering a field and flipping the car several times.

None of the occupants of the vehicle were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident, a fact police believe contributed to the severity of their injuries. The driver was thrown clear of the vehicle and was pronounced dead by medical personnel arriving on the scene. The other two victims, a 21-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, were badly injured and transported to a local hospital for treatment. It is unknown at this time if intoxication played a role in the crash.

Pennsylvania state law requires drivers to be mindful of their surroundings and the conditions of the road. Posted speed limits exist to help mitigate the potential for a car accident of this nature to occur. The two passengers have a right to file and pursue a personal injury lawsuit in a Pennsylvania civil court. Because the driver is deceased, such a suit would be directed to his estate. The passengers will need to prove the driver was negligent in a manner that caused the car accident and injuries that resulted.
