Man arrested in Pennsylvania truck accident fatality
An out-of-state truck driver has been accused of vehicular homicide in connection with an April 21 truck accident fatality that occurred in Trevose. The 32-year-old man reportedly surrendered to Pennsylvania police, who allege that the driver ran a red light and caused the truck accident fatality to the woman driving the other vehicle involved. That woman was taken to Aria Health Torresdale Campus for treatment of her injuries, where she later died. A passenger in her vehicle was treated for minor injuries and released.
Police maintain that the truck driver failed to stop at the red light when he was traveling eastbound on Street Road. The other vehicle was reportedly in the process of attempting a left hand turn onto Street Road when her vehicle was allegedly struck by the tractor trailer. A police accident reconstruction supposedly determined that the truck accident causation was the truck driver’s failure to stop at the steady red light.
The Connecticut truck driver reportedly remained incarcerated in Bucks County Prison in lieu of a $200,000 bond. In the wake of this truck accident, both the injured woman who survived and the family of the woman killed must now deal with the long-term ramifications. The surviving woman may well find herself facing medical bills and time off work as she recovers. The family members mourning the loss of the woman killed in the truck accident may face similar struggles and wonder how they can take care of any financial matters she left behind.
Some who are injured or lose a loved one in a truck accident as alleged in this case choose to pursue civil action against the person purported to be responsible. While this can’t bring back a loved one, it may provide some financial security for those left behind. In this particular Pennsylvania truck accident, it remains to be seen whether civil action will be pursued in addition to the criminal case against the allegedly responsible driver.
