1 man dead after Pennsylvania car accident on Interstate 95

A Boyertown man is dead after a two-car crash on the morning of July 6, according to local law enforcement. Pennsylvania police have not yet released the name of the 67-year-old victim. The car accident is still under investigation by authorities.

According to witness reports, the man was stopped on the shoulder of I-95 when the driver of a vehicle traveling the opposite direction lost control and his vehicle went into a spin. The car spun across the highway, striking the rear driver’s side of the parked vehicle before rolling onto its roof and coming to rest. The parked vehicle was pushed off the road by the force of the impact and into a ditch.

The 26-year-old driver of the out-of-control vehicle needed to be cut out of the wreck and was taken to a local hospital by arriving medical personnel. The 67-year-old man was pronounced dead of his injuries at the scene of the accident. Police have not speculated as to the cause of the crash at this juncture and have not suggested alcohol or speed as possible factors.

As more details of this tragic car accident become available, it is possible that Pennsylvania police will file criminal charges against the 26-year-old driver. However, even if no criminal charge is filed, the next-of-kin of the deceased victim will be entitled to file a wrongful death law suit against the other driver. Such a suit will be handled separately from any criminal charges that may be filed at a later date.
