Pennsylvania car accident claims a life
Two cars collided recently, killing one occupant, according to local sources. Pennsylvania police are still trying to piece together how the two-car accident occurred. Information is limited at this juncture, but no charges have been filed in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
According to local law enforcement, in the late afternoon of July 12 two vehicles collided on Pennsylvania Route 22. Little is known about the accident at the time of this writing, but it is clear that one person lost their life as a result of the crash. The car in which the individual was riding was flipped onto its roof in the accident.
Police have indicated two cars were involved in the accident, though they have not yet released the identity of the victim. They have also not commented upon whether or not anyone else was injured in the crash. Police have not speculated about any mitigating factors which may have played a role in the accident — so far, it does not appear as though alcohol or high speeds were to blame.
There is little information available in this case, but there is enough to extrapolate a few possible outcomes. In a two-car accident, it is common for one driver to be held accountable for the crash. If the driver who perished in the accident is deemed not at fault, the next-of-kin would be entitled to file a wrongful death suit against the driver deemed responsible. If, however, the deceased driver was found to be responsible, any injuries incurred by occupants of the other vehicle could be considered grounds for a personal injury suit against the estate of the deceased driver. Any such suits, on either side, would be dealt with through a Pennsylvania civil court.
