2 injured in Pennsylvania following car accident

Two people have suffered injuries as a result of an accident in Lower Saucon Township on Nov. 17, according to local sources. A Pennsylvania State Trooper and an unidentified woman were taken to hospital following car accident precipitated by an earlier fender bender. The crash is still under investigation by Pennsylvania police at the time of this writing.

According to reports, the trooper and the woman had stopped at the side of the road following an earlier accident that had damaged several vehicles. The trooper was investigating the first crash when a driver entering the I-78 on ramp lost control of his vehicle. The car spun and struck the first parked vehicle, forcing it into the trooper and the bystander.

Both people were injured by the accident, and the driver continued on to strike the other vehicle as well. No one else was injured in the crash. Both the trooper and the woman were taken into care and treated for their injuries. There is no word as to whether or not the driver will be charged with traffic infractions, or if he is currently in police custody. Pennsylvania authorities continue to investigate the particulars of the accident.

More information will be required before a decision can be reached regarding the culpability for this car accident. If the Pennsylvania police investigation reveals the man was driving recklessly or was intoxicated, he may face criminal charges associated with the crash. However, the private citizen involved in the accident will be entitled to file a personal injury suit regardless of the outcome of the criminal investigation. The injured officer will likely be compensated for his apparently minor injuries through workers’ comp as he was on-duty and engaged in his job at the time of the crash.
