3 injured in Pennsylvania car accident

A single-vehicle crash sent three people to the hospital in serious condition on the evening of March 30. Pennsylvania authorities responded to the car accident around 9 p.m. So far, no charges have been filed in connection with the case, but police are still investigating.

Almost nothing is known about the specifics of this accident. It has been confirmed that three people, including the driver, were in the car at the time of the crash. At some point the vehicle, which was traveling on Main Street in Ft. Loudon, left the road and struck a tree.

All three individuals were seriously injured in the crash, and three separate helicopters were dispatched to take each person to a local medical facility. Apparently the three individuals were trapped in the car for some time before emergency crews could extricate them and load them onto the airlifts. The conditions of all three are unknown as of this report. Police have not commented on whether they believe alcohol or unsafe driving were factors in the crash, but their investigation is ongoing and will continue until a satisfactory cause is determined.

If the driver of the vehicle is found to have been negligent in some way, and that negligence is believed to have caused or contributed to the car accident, the victims may choose to pursue claims for recovery of financial damages under Pennsylvania law. The passengers in the vehicle could opt to file personal injury lawsuits against the driver, regardless of any criminal charges brought to bear. Such a suit would benefit from any evidence of wrongdoing on the driver’s part. These suits are civil in nature and are handled separately from criminal cases.
