5 people dead following serious car accident in Pennsylvania

A crash that local authorities are calling “horrific” has claimed five lives, three of them teenagers. Pennsylvania police are investigating the head-on two-car accident that occurred on April 16. As both drivers perished in the crash, no criminal charges have been filed, but police are continuing to reconstruct the accident to determine what caused the terrible crash.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m., a 19-year-old driver was negotiating a curve in the road when he apparently lost control of the vehicle. His car traveled into the oncoming lane, where it collided with a vehicle coming from the opposite direction. The debris from the crash was apparently scattered over a large area, suggesting that excessive speed may have played a role in the accident.

The other driver, a 41-year-old woman, was transporting at least two other passengers, both of whom were critically wounded in the crash and had to be rushed to a local hospital. In addition to the death of the drivers, three others were killed. Police have not speculated as to whether alcohol was a factor in the crash, but both drivers will be subjected to posthumous toxicology scans as a matter of course.

The death toll in this car accident is tragically high, which means many parties will be seeking justice and closure. As Pennsylvania police continue their investigation, more information related to the cause of the accident may come to light. If the younger driver is found to have negligently contributed to the cause of the accident, the surviving passengers and the families of the deceased may choose to file suit against his estate and any separate owner of the car he was driving.
