8-year-old boy dies, man arrested in Pennsylvania auto accident

Sadly, a boy has lost his life in a car accident in Pennsylvania. The tragic hit-and-run auto accident occurred on a recent Wednesday afternoon at just about 2 p.m. A 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with the fatal collision.

According to police, the man was operating a car that struck another car whose driver was attempting to turn. The impact destroyed the second car, which was carrying a father, age 28, and his 8-year-old son. The father was taken to the hospital with pains in his chest and ended up being released the next night. However, the boy was transported to another hospital and ultimately did not survive.

Police said the man whose car struck them got out of the motor vehicle to check for damage and then drove off. However, he quickly struck another automobile at the accident scene. He then allegedly drove off again, but police were able to catch him and arrest him. The man faces charges of causing an accident leading to death, vehicular homicide, involuntary manslaughter and not having a license when involved in an accident leading to death. Authorities continued to investigate the collision.

The surviving family members of the deceased boy may choose to file a wrongful death claim in this situation, seeking the reimbursement of monetary damages. If the man who allegedly caused the auto accident ends up being convicted of the Pennsylvania criminal charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding to establish negligence per se. Once liability is established in civil court, claims for financial damages will be adjudicated.
