Car accident claims 2 lives

As summer draws to a close, Pennsylvania roads are busier than ever. Families may be trying to squeeze in a last-minute vacation, or be out and about trying to clear their back-to-school shopping lists. With a summer that produced a near-record number of fatal car accident incidents state-wide, drivers are growing ever more wary of their surroundings, but a recent tragedy shows that a serious car accident is still just a turn away.

A vehicle containing a Pennsylvania man, woman and toddler was making its way through traffic when it was struck from behind by a pickup truck. The impact was so severe that rescue workers had to cut the vehicle apart to free the male driver, who had suffered severe injuries. Though emergency responders were able to get the man to a local hospital, it was too late to save him, and he was pronounced dead.

The female passenger also suffered serious injuries and was taken to the same hospital as the male driver, but she was later transported to another in an attempt to save her life. The small child in the back seat was transported to a children’s hospital for treatment of a leg injury. The driver of the pickup refused medical attention and, by all reports, was not seriously injured.

Rear-end collisions are a frightening type of car accident. Often, there is nothing the victim can do to avoid a crash from behind. Victims and their families may feel helpless and overwhelmed in the days and weeks following an accident. Sometimes, it can be helpful to allow an experienced attorney to render aid, as an attorney may be able to help victims navigate situations such as funeral costs, medical bills and court cases, to bring the responsible party to justice.
