Car accident ends the life of Pennsylvania man

As Pennsylvania drivers, we assume a great deal of responsibility when we get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Not only do we have to ensure that we are driving in a manner that will avoid injury to ourselves, we also must look after the safety of any passengers in our vehicle as well as others with whom we share the road. One recent car accident demonstrates the tragic outcome that can accompany poor decision-making while behind the wheel.

The crash took place on a recent Saturday afternoon. A 44-year-old man was driving westbound on Interstate 80 when he decided to pass a slower-moving vehicle. As he attempted that maneuver, the driver lost control of the minivan. The vehicle went into the median and rolled. As a result, both the driver and his 44-year-old male passenger were ejected from the vehicle.

The driver sustained fatal injuries in the wreck, and died at the scene. The passenger was also seriously injured, and was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. He has survived the crash, but there is no update on his condition or whether he has sustained long-term physical damage.

Because the driver died in this Pennsylvania car accident, many believe that there is little left for his passenger in the way of legal recourse. However, in these types of situations, it is entirely possible that the passenger can sue the driver’s estate for damages associated with the crash. A personal injury suit could help the victim obtain compensation for medical treatment, time lost from work and other considerations.
