Car accident in Pennsylvania claims 2 lives

Two teenagers have tragically died in a single-car crash in Clinton County, according to local authorities. Pennsylvania state police responded to the car accident on Route 664 around 3:30 a.m. on May 16. So far, they have not determined a cause for the accident.

According to the report, the 18-year-old male driver was traveling southbound on Route 664 when the accident occurred. The driver apparently failed to properly negotiate a curve in the road and lost control of his vehicle, which left the road. The vehicle subsequently struck a tree with enough force to split the entire car in two.

Both individuals, the driver and his 17-year-old female passenger, were thrown from the vehicle. Arriving medical personnel pronounced them both dead at the scene. It is unclear whether either individual was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash. Pennsylvania authorities have learned that both individuals were present at a school dance earlier that evening, and as of this writing, police have not ruled out intoxication as a possible factor in this accident.

The loss of life is always tragic, but particularly so in the case of young people with their lives ahead of them. It is with this in mind that Pennsylvania authorities will work toward finding a cause for the car accident that killed these two individuals. However, if their investigation reveals the driver to be responsible in some way for the fatal crash, the family of the deceased passenger may wish to pursue legal action against his estate and any other owners of the vehicle involved, in the form of a wrongful death lawsuit. Evidence will be required if damages are to be awarded to the complainant.
