Car accident in Pennsylvania results in 2 arrests

A serious accident in downtown Lansing has gravely injured one woman, according to local police forces. The car accident was precipitated by a hit-and-run, Pennsylvania police believe, but the men accused of fleeing the scene have since been arrested and detained. No trial date is yet set in this case as police are still conducting their investigation.

According to preliminary reports, the female victim was struck around 2:30 in the morning in her vehicle by a dark-colored van, which had just had a search warrant issued on it by Pennsylvania police. The van fled the scene, leaving the wreck of the woman’s car for first responders. Medical and rescue personnel required the jaws of life to extricate the woman from the wreck, which had been struck so hard it flipped onto its roof.

The woman was rushed to a local hospital with injuries described as being critical. The two men who fled the scene were summarily captured a short time thereafter and charged with a variety of infractions. Police have reason to believe alcohol may have played a role in this accident, and they are continuing their investigation along those lines. The two men were treated at a local hospital for minor injuries and underwent toxicology scans.

The criminality suspected in this car accident may lead police to officially charge the two men. Any guilty verdict reached in a criminal case may help to bolster any personal injury suit filed by the victim. Such a suit would be handled separately from the criminal case, in a Pennsylvania civil court.
