Driver who caused car accident showed total disregard for victims

Pennsylvania laws require a driver that has been involved in an accident to pull to the side of the road as safely as possible, do his or her best to render aid to any victims, and call authorities immediately. These important steps can save lives. When a driver chooses to break the law after causing a car accident, there can be serious legal consequences.

Recently, a pickup truck driver apparently changed lanes with no warning and cut off several other vehicles. A passenger vehicle and tractor-trailer became involved in a crash, and both vehicles careened off the road into a ditch. Reports state that the smaller passenger car became stuck under the massive truck, which happened to be carrying hazardous materials.

When police and rescue workers arrived at the scene, they discovered that the driver that caused the crash had simply continued driving, with no apparent regard for the chaos he left in his wake. Aid was rendered to the injured victims, and authorities noted that given the severity of the damage, it is amazing none of the victims were killed. The scene took hours to clean up, and now police are hunting the hit-and-run driver.

A victim that is injured in a Pennsylvania car accident typically has the right to take legal action against the driver that caused the crash. An experienced attorney can help a victim seek monetary damages to help cover medical bills, damage to vehicles and other property, loss of wages due to inability to work, and other documented financial burdens that may befall a victim. The accident victim can take time to heal and prepare for the road ahead while an attorney helps navigate the legal process in pursuit of justice for the client.
