Man faces murder charges after fatal Pennsylvania car accident
Few things are more inherently dangerous than a high-speed chase. Many times, these pursuits end in a serious car accident. One Pennsylvania man now faces murder charges after a passenger in his car died in a wreck.
According to Pennsylvania police, the 23-year-old man was speeding. After officers attempted to pull the driver over, he proceeded to attempt to elude them. The chase was brought to an abrupt end when the vehicle collided with a roadside barrier. The vehicle rolled over after impact, which resulted in the death of a passenger in the front seat. Two other passengers, as well as the driver, were also injured in the wreck.
Police claimed that the driver was allegedly in possession of two types of illegal substances. He is now facing a murder in the third-degree charge for the death of the 22-year-old man. Authorities were purportedly holding the driver under guard at the hospital until he could be transported to the local jail. The conditions of the other two victims was not released.
Officials did not state what other charges the driver may face as a result of this fatal car accident. The surviving family of the victim likely are devastated after this tragic and avoidable tragedy. Both they and the two injured parties may elect to seek information concerning the filing of wrongful death and personal injury claims against the charged man. Though the criminal system will take its own form of justice, a successful ruling on these cases may at least relieve the financial pressures that these serious wrecks often impose.
