Pennsylvania motorcycle accidents: Man loses life in collision

For those who are devoted owners of motorcycles, few things compare to the freedom one experiences when riding one. However, with that freedom comes a higher risk of serious injuries or death when they are involved in motorcycle accidents. Recently, a Pennsylvania man became the latest victim in these all too common collisions.

The wreck occurred around 11:30 p.m. on a recent week night. The accident report indicated that the victim was riding his motorcycle along the surface streets in a local town. As he was headed in an easterly direction, a man driving a larger vehicle attempted to make a left turn directly into his path. The 23-year-old rider was unable to take evasive action in time to avoid a collision.

The impact threw him off of his motorcycle. Though he was wearing proper protective gear, his injuries proved to be too severe, and emergency responders were unable to provide any life-sustaining treatment. The driver of the larger vehicle, which was described as an SUV, suffered only minor wounds in the accident. Pennsylvania police reported that the driver’s airbag was activated by the collision.

Police closed the road while completing their investigation. It is unknown what charges the 22-year-old SUV driver may face in response to this fatal wreck. The victim’s surviving family may choose to take their own action by filing a wrongful death suit against the driver who caused the accident. These motorcycle accidents take a terrible toll on the lives of those injured or left behind. A favorable ruling in a civil litigation may allow  the families to recover some of the monetary damages they may have sustained from medical bills and associated expenses.
