Multiple vehicle car accident injures several; closes highway
Holiday weekend traffic usually causes delays and minor headaches. In spite of the precautions that a driver may take, there is also the risk of being involved in a serious car accident. Over the recent July 4th holiday, a serious wreck closed one Pennsylvania interstate for hours.
Police reported to the scene of a multiple vehicle collision in the mid-morning hours on the Monday before July 4th. According to officials, traffic had been slowed by an earlier mishap involving an area around a road construction site. Purportedly, six vehicles were stopped after being caught up in the minor incident. The driver of a large construction vehicle approaching from the rear was apparently unaware that the cars up ahead had come to a stop.
The dump truck smashed into one of the cars that had come to a stop. This impact then led to a chain reaction crash that involved multiple vehicles. Details concerning the number of victims involved were not disclosed; however, officials stated that several people were airlifted to local hospitals with moderate to critical injuries.
Interstate 80 was closed for several hours following the accident in order for Pennsylvania authorities to conduct their investigation. The victims who suffered injuries in this serious car accident may have months of recovery looming ahead of them. In addition to the physical wounds, many of the victims and their families have likely sustained significant monetary damages. Along with the medical bills, there are likely many associated losses, including lost wages. All of the victims are entitled to seek recompense for their losses through the filing of a civil suit against the party or parties deemed responsible for this terrible collision.
