Pennsylvania car accident injuries 2 elderly individuals

A wreck that took place recently in Pennsylvania has injured two individuals, both occupants of the same vehicle. On the morning of Saturday, May 26, a pickup truck with two elderly people in it — ages 77 and 79 — was rear-ended by a car driven by a 41-year-old woman from Snyder County. The car accident took place around 10 a.m. on Interstate 78 near Hamburg.

Upon impact, the truck occupied by the 77-year-old and 79-year-old was forced into the left lane of the Interstate, causing it to collide with a concrete barrier and flip, landing on the driver’s side of the truck. The accident caused the Interstate to be shut down for approximately an hour. The collision resulted in both vehicles sustaining severe damage and required towing from the crash scene.

The two elderly victims were transported to Lehigh Valley Hospital for assessment and treatment. The extent of their injuries was not immediately released, and The Morning Call had no information late Saturday night. However, the newspaper did state that the 44-year-old that had rear-ended the pickup truck was cited for careless driving as well as driving with a suspended driver’s license.

The seriousness of a car accident such as the one reported here cannot be understated. An overturned truck is potentially devastating for anyone, let alone two people in their 70’s. The first concern is for their well being, and the hope is they recover quickly and completely from their injuries.

The car driver responsible for the accident will have to face the consequences of the tragedy and the charges brought by the authorities. Additionally, Pennsylvania law offers the right of individuals seriously hurt by the negligence of others to seek compensation through its courts for reimbursement of damages occasioned by such an accident.
