Pennsylvania woman dies in car accident

A woman is dead after being struck by a car on Route 202, according to local news sources. Pennsylvania police are still investigating the cause of the car accident that killed the 30-year-old woman. So far, they have not filed charges against the driver involved, and the pedestrian has not been identified pending notification of her family.

According to the report, around 10 p.m. on the night of July 28, the woman was crossing the road on foot not far from State Farm Drive. At this point, a car driven by a 26-year-old individual apparently struck her. It is unclear at this time whether the woman was crossing at a designated stop.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, and the driver responsible stayed at the scene until police arrived. The investigation is still underway, being overseen by local and state police at this time. Police have not spoken publicly about what they believe may have been the cause of the accident, which means nothing has been ruled out at this time, including driver error.

More details of this car accident will need to be reviewed before it can be determined what course of action, if any, is open to the family of the deceased woman. If she was crossing the street illegally, criminal charges are unlikely to be filed, but if the driver is found to have been driving recklessly or negligently in a way that directly contributed to his or her inability to avoid striking the pedestrian, the family might have enough to file a civil case. A wrongful death lawsuit in Pennsylvania doesn’t require that the subject be charged with a crime, only that evidence of culpability exists.
