Police in Pennsylvania seek witnesses to car accident

Police in Lower Allen Township are seeking witnesses to a serious car crash that happened on Gettysburg Road around 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 6, according to local sources. Pennsylvania authorities are hoping witness testimony might shed some light on the car accident that left a motorcyclist seriously injured. For the moment, no charges have been filed. 

According to preliminary reports, a man operating a motorcycle was headed west on Gettysburg Road when the accident happened. A vehicle driven by a woman who may have been attempting to turn into a local shopping center pulled in front of the motorcyclist, who struck the side of her vehicle. The man, who was not wearing a helmet, was thrown from his motorcycle and was seriously injured. 

The man was rushed to a local hospital for treatment. The woman driving the car was treated at the scene. An accident reconstruction team is still in the midst of trying to piece together exactly what happened, which is why police are seeking the support of witnesses to the crash. The woman has not been charged with an infraction, but this may change if witnesses come forward. 

If it is proved that the woman was operating her vehicle negligently or recklessly at the time of the car accident, she could face traffic charges in relation to her decision. In addition, the injured man would have a better case for a personal injury lawsuit if the woman was criminally charged. However, in Pennsylvania, a civil lawsuit can still be filed in the absence of criminal charges, assuming sufficient evidence of culpability is still present.
