Woman dead after fatal accident in Pennsylvania

An out-of-state woman is dead following a bizarre accident that also killed another driver, according to local sources. Pennsylvania authorities are still trying to determine why the out-of-state driver, who appeared to be relatively uninjured in the fatal accident, walked into a nearby pond, where she drowned. Regardless, the surviving family of the other driver may still have legal recourse available to them. 

The police report states that just after 8 a.m. on Nov. 10, the woman attempted to pass another driver by crossing a double-yellow line. This brought her into oncoming traffic, where she struck another car head-on. The force of the impact killed the driver of that car, a 54-year-old local man, though, thankfully, no one else was injured in the vehicle. 

State troopers are still in the process of contacting the family of the woman responsible for the crash to determine if she had a pre-existing medical or mental condition. Despite having only minor injuries, including bumps and bruises, the woman was seen approaching a pond after the accident. She was later found drowned in the pond. 

Regardless of the admittedly bizarre and tragic outcome of the fatal accident, Pennsylvania law still allows for the family of the deceased man to seek justice. If it can be proved that the deceased woman was responsible for the crash, due to negligence or recklessness, the family could file a wrongful death suit against her estate. This suit would be handled in a civil court environment, not contingent upon criminal charges that, given the fatality, would not be forthcoming.
