Single-vehicle car accident in Pennsylvania kills 3

Three high school sophomores have tragically died following a serious crash in Northampton Township on the morning of Aug. 30, according to local sources. The Pennsylvania teens were involved in a single-car accident that overturned their SUV. So far, Pennsylvania police have not been able to determine the cause of the crash, but the investigation is still underway.

According to the accident report, a total of six high school students were in the SUV at the time of the crash, though it is unclear which one was driving at the time. Details of the crash are sketchy, but it has been confirmed the SUV was found overturned by arriving medical personnel. One of the six injured was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

The other five were taken to a local hospital, where two more succumbed to their injuries throughout the day. The conditions of the other three individuals are unknown at this time. Police have not speculated as to whether alcohol or unsafe driving were factors in this tragic crash, and they have not articulated whether the driver is among the deceased or whether he/she survived. No charges have been filed in association with this case.

If the driver survived the car accident, it is possible that individual could face wrongful death and personal injury claims for the injuries and deaths that occurred as a result of the crash. Even if the driver perished in the accident, Pennsylvania law will allow any such claims to proceed against the estate of the driver and any other individual with an ownership interest in the vehicle involved. Evidence of wrongdoing on the driver’s part will be integral to such cases.
