Tractor-trailer accident on Turnpike claims the life of an infant

The Pennsylvania Turnpike is well-known by those in the area as a dangerous drive. High rates of speed, especially with regard to tractor-trailers, and the number of cars on the Turnpike at any given time can make traveling this route a difficult one. A tractor-trailer accident is unfortunately, all too common and can be the fault of either driver.

A recent accident occurred around 10:30 one night. Authorities were called to the scene and found an incredibly mangled car that had collided with a tractor-trailer and concrete median wall. The southbound lanes were affected by the crash, which happened about two miles from and E-ZPass interchange. The cause of the accident and the exact details were not detailed.

A 2-month-old infant was a passenger in the car and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Tragically, he did not survive. The coroner ruled the death an accident due to blunt-force trauma to the head. Three other passengers in the car were also taken to the same hospital for treatment.

When a tractor-trailer accident happens, and a car is involved, occupants of the car stand a greater chance of being seriously injured. If the accident was due to the negligence of the driver of either vehicle, or both of them, a personal injury or wrongful death claim may be filed in a Pennsylvania civil court. With the counsel of an experienced attorney, one can seek reimbursement for monetary damages such as lost wages due to injury, medical costs incurred and final costs, if applicable.
