Truck accident closes Interstate 81 for hours
Pennsylvania drivers may admit that they get a bit nervous when traveling on the highway. High speeds and crowded lanes can make for stressful driving conditions. Because there are often large trucks moving goods across the state, there is an increased risk for a semitruck accident.
Recently, a semitruck was carrying an oversized load. The driver of the truck attempted to move over into the next lane, and was unable to control the large vehicle. The vehicle slid into the grassy area that divides the north and southbound lanes of I-81 in Pennsylvania.
At this point, the truck began to roll and became airborne, landing on the lanes on the northbound side. At least three vehicles were hit as a result, and one person, a 67-year-old man, was killed. All lanes of the highway had to be closed for several hours following the horrific accident. The crash remains under investigation.
When a person becomes the victim of a semi-truck accident, his or her surviving family may be at a loss for how to proceed. In a time of grief, it may be a daunting task to handle funeral expenses, insurance matters, property damages and other matters. Victims and/or their families may want to consider allowing a compassionate attorney to assist them. An attorney that is experienced in cases involving truck accidents may be able to represent a victim as they seek justice and any applicable damages in a court of law, and make sure that a negligent truck driver is held accountable.
