Charges pressed in fatal auto accident
Sometimes, a car crash is the result of unavoidable hazards, such as weather conditions or a vehicle malfunction. Usually, this type of auto accident is handled by insurance companies and will likely never end up as a legal matter in court. In other cases, an auto accident is the result of negligence or carelessness on the part of a driver. Pennsylvania has seen its share of both types this summer, and in the case of the latter sort, charges have been pressed.
In June, a woman from another state was making her way through Pennsylvania. According to reports, the woman was driving her truck far above the posted speed limit prior to a crash. Reports indicate that she attempted to pass other vehicles in a portion of the road that prohibited passing.
As a result of her careless driving, she hit an innocent man on a motorcycle. The unsuspecting man was killed, and investigators say the woman was clearly at fault. Police noted that the motorcyclist had been wearing a proper helmet. The woman has since been charged with vehicular homicide.
When an auto accident causes serious injury or death, victims may feel as if their world has turned upside down. In addition to medical bills, funeral expenses and insurance matters, at-fault accidents may also result in legal action. In many cases, victims may want to consider allowing a knowledgeable attorney to bear some of the burden, so they can focus on recovery or deal with a loss in their family.
