Safety gadgets cannot prevent every death in SUV accidents

Driving on Pennsylvania roads can be a dangerous task. Ongoing road construction, weather conditions and other drivers can make navigating the roads treacherous at times. SUV accidents can occur at any time, regardless of the skill or experience of the driver. And even with all the safety features, misfortune can still occur.

A 66-year-old woman and her 77-year-old male passenger were in a turn lane anticipating a left-hand turn. While the driver waited to execute the turn, the SUV was rear-ended by an 84-year-old woman who was traveling in the same direction. The impact was forceful enough to send the SUV directly into oncoming traffic.

Upon being pushed into oncoming traffic, the SUV was then struck by a tractor-trailer. The 54-year-old male truck driver was not injured. The driver of the SUV along with the driver of the offending vehicle were transported to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries. The male passenger was also transported to a nearby hospital where he later was pronounced dead.

Should a Pennsylvania resident be injured in an accident that is the result of negligence on the part of someone else, the victim typically has grounds to seek compensation in a civil court. Filing a personal injury claim requires the knowledge of an attorney who understands the legal process and can offer assistance. Should a loved one perish from the accident, surviving family members may be entitled to file a wrongful death claim. SUV accidents can be expensive, though the right attorney can help recover medical costs, lost wages and property damage, among other financial losses.
