Pennsylvania car accident leads to arrest

Driving while under the influence of alcohol or illegal substances in Pennsylvania has consequences that reach far beyond the initial incident. The aftermath of injuries and fatalities caused by a car accident are often devastating. Driving while intoxicated or under the influence can leave lasting scars on families of the victims and on the negligent driver as well.

Police were called to the scene of the accident around 6:50 a.m. A 24-year-old male had caused a multiple car crash in northbound lanes, disrupting traffic for sometime. He was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, involuntary manslaughter and driving while under the influence.

A 52-year-old passenger in one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were taken to a local hospital for treatment. A 34-year-old male was treated for a broken leg. A 62-year-old male was treated for a head injury. Two passengers who suffered minor injuries were treated at the scene and subsequently released.

When a loved one is injured or loses his or her life in a car accident due to a negligent driver, the emotional and physical scars can be far reaching for many. Car accidents involving multiple victims can further the reach of loss and devastation. The surviving family of the deceased victim may choose to file a wrongful death claim in a Pennsylvania civil court. Injured parties may proceed with a personal injury claim. Compensation gained from successful litigation can help cover medical costs, final expenses and/or other applicable financial losses.
