Snow and ice covered Pennyslvania roads leads to car accident

When Pennsylvania weather turns from flowers and sunshine to cold and snow, the roads can become a battle ground for traction. Drivers should exercise caution when traveling in such weather to help avoid car accidents and injuries, if they must travel at all. Recently, authorities were called to the scene of an accident around 10 p.m. A 19-year-old driver had lost control of his westbound vehicle and crossed the center line. Still unable to gain control of his vehicle, he hit another motorist traveling eastbound head-on.

The 23-year-old driver of the eastbound car had to be extracted from the vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment of moderate injuries. A passenger in the unsuspecting vehicle, a 23-year-old male, was pronounced dead on the scene at 11:18 p.m. Authorities are continuing to investigate the crash. The roads at the time were icy and covered with snow, but speed could have been a contributing factor.
