Pennsylvania motorcycle accidents continue to take serious toll

As summer draws to a close, even more motorists may be on the roads trying to get in last minute errands and pleasure trips before the cooler weather sets in. With the increased traffic, though, motorcyclists face an increased risk of being involved in motorcycle accidents. A recent wreck in Pennsylvania resulted in a rider suffering serious injuries.

The accident occurred on a recent Friday evening. Police report that a 20-year-old motorcyclist was approaching an intersection from the south. As he lawfully entered into the crossroads, a motorist in a larger vehicle executed a left hand turn directly into his path. The resulting collision caused the man to be forcibly ejected from his seat and thrown several yards down an embankment.

Emergency responders painstakingly raised the injured man to ground level and then transported him to a local medical facility. He was said to be in serious condition. The driver of the vehicle left the scene of the wreck. She later presented herself to Pennsylvania officials after a barrage of media reports concerning the search for the motorist involved.

The woman now faces several serious criminal charges in connection with this collision, including aggravated assault with a vehicle. The current condition of the rider is unknown, but he most likely will endure a long and difficult recovery. When serious events such as motorcycle accidents occur, the victims also usually sustain enormous financial damages. They may seek relief from these monetary losses by filing a personal injury suit against the parties deemed responsible for these senseless accidents. An experienced personal injury attorney can provide guidance as to how to file a valid claim.
