2 teenagers in Pennsylvania killed in fatal accident

Less than a week before the start of school, two popular high school cheerleaders were tragically killed in a car accident. Pennsylvania authorities are still investigating the fatal accident that claimed the lives of both girls, aged 16, and injured several other people. At this time, no charges have been filed against either driver involved in the incident. 

Police say the two girls were traveling in a minivan on Route 903 when the 18-year-old driver of the vehicle they were in apparently lost control of her vehicle. The minivan traveled into the opposing lane and struck a car head-on. Both girls were pronounced dead at the scene by arriving medical personnel. 

Three other teenagers and a 72-year-old woman were all injured in the crash, but the extent of their injuries was  not reported. So far, police have not speculated as to what may have caused the driver of the minivan to lose control of the vehicle. Their investigation is ongoing. 

It remains unclear if the driver thought responsible for this fatal accident will face criminal charges. Separately, the injured parties and the families of the deceased will be entitled to pursue claims for monetary relief in a Pennsylvania civil court. Evidence police uncover pointing to the young driver as the responsible party can be offered as proof of financial liability in civil court.
